Nick Cave (born 1959) is an artist and educator working between the visual and performing arts through a wide range of mediums, including sculpture, installation, video, sound and performance. Cave is well known for his Soundsuits, sculptural forms based on the scale of his body, initially created in direct response to the police beating of Rodney King in 1991. Cave has had major exhibitions at MASS MoCA (2016), Cranbrook Art Museum (2015), Saint Louis Art Museum (2014–15), ICA Boston (2014), Denver Art Museum (2013), Seattle Art Museum (2011) and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (2009), among others. Cave lives and works in Chicago.

Naomi Beckwith is the deputy director at the Guggenheim Museum. Previously, Beckwith held positions at the MCA Chicago and the Studio Museum in Harlem.
Romi Crawford is a professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She was previously a curator at the Studio Museum in Harlem.
Antwaun Sargent is the author of “The New Black Vanguard: Photography between Art and Fashion” (Aperture, 2019) and the editor of “Young, Gifted and Black: A New Generation of Artists” (D.A.P., 2020).
Nona Hendryx is best known as a member of Labelle, the rock, funk and glam band that recorded the #1 hit “Lady Marmalade.”
Malik Gaines is a professor at New York University. He is the author of “Black Performance on the Outskirts of the Left” (NYU Press, 2017).
Linda Johnson Rice is the CEO of Johnson Publishing Company, and the steward of the treasured Ebony/Jet photo archives shared between the Getty Foundation and the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC.
Damita Jo Freeman is an American dancer and actress who started her career in the 1970s on the TV show “Soul Train.”
